Not much was happening in New York City in April 2020. The city was locked down, and its residents were confined to a life of Zoom work followed by Zoom happy hours - times were dark! However, in the midst of all this turmoil, a new love was beginning to blossom.
Ben and Michelle were classmates at Columbia Business School, assigned to the same group project and, from the way Ben tells it, when he saw Michelle in her Zoom square it was love at first sight.
After their group project was complete, Zoom stalking and Slack flirting turned into an Instagram follow and an email from Ben asking Michelle for an in-person analysis of their work.. and of course Michelle playfully said yes!
After several dates that neither of them wanted to end, Ben finally got up the courage to invite Michelle to his graduation party. Given that this was 2020, the party consisted of 6 guys hanging out in an apartment, drinking champagne and reminiscing about being able to go outside.
After the party, before he went to bed, Ben remembers thinking that if Michelle could handle herself in an environment like this, he had truly found "The One". Two months later, Michelle came to Utah to meet his parents, and a year later Ben made the trek to Thailand. Many, many, many trips, smiles, kisses, DoorDash sushi orders, happy hours, and overpriced New York City lattes later, Ben nervously got down on one knee in Brooklyn Bridge Park and asked Michelle to be his wife.
Even though Ben put the ring on the wrong finger, Michelle said yes! The rest is history, and we cannot wait to celebrate our love in front of our family and closest friends.
